Cardiac Recovery

Individuals recovering from cardiac surgery or other cardiac events may benefit from specialized rehabilitation in order to help rebuild their strengths and skills that will enable them to resume their lives with greater comfort, confidence and independence.

Our expert rehabilitation team consists of physicians; rehabilitation nurses; physical, occupational, speech and cognitive therapists; psychologists and neuropsychologists; and other clinicians who work together to help individuals best manage the healing process, prepare to return home and transition to life ahead. It specifically targets the skills, strategies and techniques that help to restore physical and functional abilities, and address any medical needs.

The Team Approach

Our Rehabilitation team will create an individualized treatment plan based on your medical, physical and functional needs, as well as your rehabilitation goals. The plan focuses on maximizing your cardiovascular health, physical strength, independence and overall well-being.

In addition, we will provide the training and education to help you:

  • Protect your incision while dressing, grooming and bathing
  • Use adaptive equipment to facilitate performing self-care activities
  • Transfer safely in and out of a bath tub, shower, toilet, chair and car
  • Move in and out of bed and turn properly
  • Adapt to new ways of completing activities of daily living at home or at work
  • Conserve energy
